Ambler pupils enjoy sun, sea and sand on annual summer outing

13 Jul Ambler pupils enjoy sun, sea and sand on annual summer outing

Ambler pupils enjoyed a chance to play in the sun, sea and sand on our annual Key Stage 1 summer outing last week.

Years 1 and 2 visited Walton-on-the-Naze, which boasts a fine beach and the second longest pier in Great Britain, on Monday 3 July 2017.

Excitement levels were building from the second the children started lining up in the playground and only heightened as they rode on the coaches with friends and family.

The real fun started upon arrival though, with everyone joining together to eat a picnic in the park, and then splashing about in the sea and digging in the sand on the beach.

Some children created the most amazingly artistic sandcastles and fortifications, while others played football, jumped waves or did cartwheels of joy!

The teaching staff had a great time soaking the children and trying (but failing!) to avoid getting drenched themselves in turn.

There was also a surprise presentation of a golden bucket and spade to Key Stage 1 leader Hazel Lambert to mark her wonderful stewardship of so many seaside outings. Hazel has decided, after much thought, to retire at the end of the Summer Term, following 17 years of hard work and dedication at Ambler. Everyone will miss her immensely!

We’d like to thank all the staff and parent helpers who made the day such a success, as the whole outing ran like clockwork! Please see below for some of our favourite photos from the big day:
