Arsenal legend trains with Ambler pupils in new Football Cage

03 Apr Arsenal legend trains with Ambler pupils in new Football Cage

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has officially unveiled Ambler’s Football Cage and even put our pupils through their paces on the new astro-turf.

The tough-tackling defender, who fans voted in at number 20 on their list of Arsenal’s greatest players, paid us a visit on the last day of term, accompanied by Gunnersaurus.

Ambler’s pupils will have been more likely to recognise Keown as a pundit from BBC One’s Match of the Day, while staff and older family members will know him well from his long association with Arsenal.

Both Keown, who made more than 400 appearances for Arsenal, and the club mascot had a kickaround with Ambler’s pupils before posing for photos. Check some of our favourite snaps from the afternoon below:

Proceeds from last year’s Arsenal Legends game against AC Milan at the nearby Emirates Stadium have gone to refurbishing the surface in our Football Cage. The money is being used to build football pitches for schools and community groups across north London, and we couldn’t have done it without the continued support of Arsenal Football Club.
