In reception children have a flexible structure to their day, in line with the Early Years Curriculum. In years 1 to 6 the children follow a relatively structured timetable, outlined below.
The school day begins at 9.00am; children need to be in the playground ready to start the day by this time. We start with a brief morning exercise session. This ensures the children are energised, alert and ready to learn.
During the morning, when their attention levels are at their peak, all children have literacy and maths lessons.
The first of the two daily breaks is at 10.45, and the second is at 2.30 (Years 1 – 3 only). Having two daily breaks ensures that children concentrate when in the classroom.
Lunch is 12.15pm to 1.30pm for Key Stage One children and 12.30pm to 1.30pm for those in Key Stage Two. This allows the Key Stage One children to get settled before the older children arrive. During lunchtime our teaching assistants organise a range of activities from sewing and reading to organised games so children can choose between structured activities and free play.
The normal school day finishes at 3.30. A variety of clubs are available each evening from 3.30pm to 4.45pm, including street dance, chess, football and music enrichment.
We also offer an extended day from 8am to 5.45pm.
Let's make something beautiful together...
