There are lots of exciting developments in computing at Ambler! The school now boasts a brand new, redesigned ICT area which is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment.
To add to our fully equipped computing area, we are investing in new technology which enables children to build, programme and code computers, independently.
Ambler’s new E-Cadets have been hard at work setting up activities to run at lunch times for children across the school. The E-Cadets, two of whom are on duty every lunch time, are responsible for supporting other children with their activities and maintaining the E-Hub.
Our new Curriculum reflects the importance of having a strong understanding of all aspects of computing. All children begin their computing learning with a lesson on e-safety, a high priority for us at Ambler. In Key Stage 1, we focus on the functions and uses of computing in life as well as learning to send e-mails, write algorithms and de-bug glitches in programmes. In Key Stage 2, we will be designing web pages, coding using various programmes and creating art using 3D imaging.
At Ambler we are determined to be up to date with the most modern, creative and engaging ways to learn. We have already been using the App Comic Life in order to plan our literacy in Year 5 and produce instructions in Year 3.
We have also been developing our own online community through the Managed Learning Environment (MLE). Every pupil, member of staff and Governor at Ambler has a login to the MLE. Pupils can access materials and activities to support their learning at home, while staff and Governors can add information to share with each other.
Let's make something beautiful together...
