At Ambler we recognise that music is very much part of everyday life and can be a life-long love and activity.
All children at Ambler experience a rich and varied curriculum where they are taught to invent, imagine and express their feelings through the powerful medium of music. Throughout key stage 1 and 2 children develop their ability to sing, play, read and interpret music through engaging experiences set within the key strands of listening, composing and performing music.
Children from Nursery upwards learn to sing and interpret a wide range of vocal repertoire with increasing challenge and technique, whilst children from years 2-6 are also exposed to whole class instrumental teaching. This includes children from year 2 onwards learning to play the Recorder, year 3 children learning the glockenspiels, and years 4, 5 and 6 learning to play the Ukulele.
Group Guitar and Violin lessons are also currently offered by external specialists who visit the school during school lunchtimes.
Singing assemblies take place every week for children across years 1-6, and all children in Key stage 2 are invited to take part in a weekly choir club.
As part of Ambler’s music provision, the music specialist continues to seek out musical opportunities within school, around the local community, and in the rich musical hub of London.
Let's make something beautiful together...
