At Ambler we adopt an investigative approach to Science. The children learn about a wide range of areas, including living things, materials and natural phenomena.
Each term children study two topics based around the following subjects:
Work is planned throughout the school to ensure balance and progression within the context of the National Curriculum. Much of the work is of a practical nature and involves the children in observing, hypothesising and predicting results. Some science classes take place beyond the school walls – at local museums or nearby study centres, such as Islington Ecology Centre.
We have established strong links with a local secondary school and in the Summer Term pupils in year 6 have the opportunity to experience Science in a real laboratory environment.
